KappaPath does not require an account, shows no ads and contains no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. Photos you scan are processed on your device. The optional PC sync sends only game events (quests, raids, flea market sales, insurance messages) linked to a random pairing code — no personal information. We collect anonymous, first-party usage statistics (see section 6).
Photos you take or pick are analyzed on your device with Apple's Vision text recognition. They are not uploaded anywhere. The most recent scan is kept only in the app's private storage on your device so it can be re-processed; deleting the app removes it.
To show prices, quests, maps and guides, the app downloads public game data from our cache server (Cloudflare Workers, which mirrors tarkov.dev), images from the Escape from Tarkov Wiki (Fandom) and map assets from tarkov.dev and jsDelivr. Like any web request, these services see your IP address; no identifier from the app is sent with these requests.
If you install the KappaPath PC script and enter its pairing code in the app, the script reads the game's own log files on your PC and sends the following to our Cloudflare Worker:
Nothing else is read or sent: no account data, no inventory, no IP addresses from the logs, no files outside the game's log folder. The data is stored under a one-way hash of your 12-character pairing code — anyone without the code cannot read it. It is overwritten on each sync and automatically deleted after 90 days without a sync. To delete it immediately, email us your pairing code.
If you turn on flea sale and insurance notifications, the app sends Apple's push token for your device, together with the app language, to our Cloudflare Worker, stored under the same hashed pairing code. When a new sync contains a sale or an insurance event, a notification is sent through Apple Push Notification service via our own relay server. Turning notifications off in the app deletes the token; tokens are also deleted after 90 days without use.
KappaPath Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details or Apple ID. Free-usage counters (remaining free scans) are stored on your device.
The app sends anonymous usage events (which screens are opened, session length, app version, app language, and in-app actions such as scan results, free-limit reached, paywall views and purchase outcomes — never scanned images, key names or your pairing code) to our own server. They are tied only to a random install ID created by the app — not to your pairing code, Apple ID or device identifiers — and are used only to improve the app. No third party receives them. Your country is derived from the request on the server; your IP address is not stored.
Diagnostics and screen/button usage. To find bugs and slow spots, the app also sends anonymous crash and performance diagnostics (crash and hang reports from Apple's MetricKit with code offsets only, launch time, memory peak, and the type and code of errors the app caught — never error messages, file names or your data) and which screens and buttons are used (fixed screen and button names, time spent on a screen). These use the same random install ID, are stored only on our own server and are never shared.
Optional feedback. Occasionally the app may ask a single, skippable question — for example why you closed the Pro screen, why you disconnected PC sync, or whether you are enjoying the app — and Settings has a "Send feedback" form. If you answer, we receive the option you picked and, only if you type one, a short note (up to 500 characters), together with the same random install ID, app version and language. Please don't include your name or email in the note. Answers are stored on our own server, used only to improve the app, and are never shared. Answering is never required and unlocks nothing.
Your language, game mode, quest progress ticks, hideout levels and planner preferences are stored only on your device. The home screen widget reads a summary from the app on your device and makes no network requests.
KappaPath and its PC script are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, and you install and use them at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer accepts no liability for any damage, data loss, game account action or other consequence arising from installing or using them. KappaPath is an unofficial fan-made companion.
KappaPath is a companion for a mature-rated game and is not directed at children under 13.
